You will work with an experienced team of FMCG professionals to deliver turnkey solutions for clients in the food, drink, and pharma sectors, managing projects from initial feasibility and cost planning through to design, build, and handover to ensure a seamless, efficient process.

As Design Manager, you will collaborate with architects, engineers, and consultants to develop detailed designs for new builds, expansions, fit-outs, relocations, or refurbishments.

This is a remote based role.

Your role is to ensure that the plant’s equipment, layout, and processes are technically sound, hygienic, safe, and compliant, while supporting the high-volume, high-quality production standards of the FMCG sector.

Your work connects concept, compliance, and operational execution, making this role essential to the success of new or expanded production facilities.

Core responsibilities

• Develop detailed engineering designs for production lines, machinery, and plant infrastructure to meet FMCG manufacturing requirements for throughput, hygiene, and safety.
• Apply food safety standards (e.g., EHEDG, BS EN 1672‑2, EC 852/2004) to ensure equipment is cleanable, allergen-segregated, and compliant with BRCGS, FSSC 22000, and environmental regulations.
• Identify and design controls for risks such as combustible dust, ethanol, hydrogen, CO₂, and nitrogen, in accordance with the Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmospheres Regulations 2002.
• Use CAD tools to produce detailed 3D models, manufacturing drawings, and technical documentation for fabrication and installation.
• Collaborate with process, automation, and mechanical teams to integrate new equipment into existing plant layouts, ensuring smooth workflow and minimal downtime.
• Address design issues, value engineering changes, and compliance gaps during construction, often while production continues.
• Oversee prototype or trial runs, analyse performance data, and refine designs before final commissioning.

To be considered for this role, you will need the following qualifications:

• Mechanical, electrical, and process engineering knowledge
• CAD/3D modelling software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD)
• Understanding of food hygiene, safety, and environmental regulations
• Project management and cross‑disciplinary collaboration skills
